Utah Adventures

For Labor Day Adam & I decided to go exploring Utah. We drove up to Logan, Utah to see how far the drive was to Utah State University. It took us about an hour to get there. We wanted to see if the drive was feesable during the winter months. We decided it would be really difficult. There were some steep hills & sharp turns. It would also take at least an 1 1/2 to 2 hours when it is snowy. Adam is leaning more towards staying in town & going to Weber State.

After we went to Logan (& got delicious Jamba Juice! YUM!) We headed to the spot of the Golden Spike. This is where during the late 1800's the transcontinental railroad was joined. The spot is out in the middle of NOWHERE! It was about another hour + to the Golden Spike. We got there at about 5 pm, which also happens to be the time when the museum closes :( The rangers let us in to see the replica spike. We were very disappointed to learn that the real Golden Spike is sitting at Stanford University. We then ventured outside to see the (replica) of the railroad tracks where the Golden Spike was hammered. We learned that the original railroad tracks were torn up about 40 years after they were laid down. They used the steel to help the war effort...so upsetting! :( I don't know if I would have made the drive over if I knew it was all replicas.

We then drove to a rocket display. It was ATK space technology replicas. This part was for Adam, I wandered behind him ooing at what he wanted me to look at! :) We then drove another hour plus & we were starving. We stopped & got some dinner on our drive home. It was about 5 hours altogether. It was the first of our Utah adventures!
