The Extreme Team Beach Trip

for jeff's high school graduation we could not think of a good gift to buy him. we thought about giving him money, but that wasn't personal enough. so jan, adam, and i decided we would take him to the beach with us. he loves the beach and he loves us! ;) so we figured it was a win/win situation. we planned it for the last weekend in july, but jeff had to work that weekend so that idea went out the window. so about thursday of last week we decided to drive up friday night and go to pacific city saturday and sunday. the weather wasn't as sunny as we had hoped, but honestly it was a nice break from the 100+ weather we have been having in pen-town. it was roxy's first time at the beach, and i didn't know how she would do. she was quite brave...the crashing waves didn't seem to bother her a bit. the salt water did though. she kept trying to drink like she does all other bodies of water, and then she would try to spit it back out. by sunday she had figured it out :) we had an awesome time spending time together, and recharging our batteries.

This is jeff and adam when we first got to the beach. it was actually quite crowded considering the weather. their were families everywhere. roxy is digging in the sand in this pic, she found all kinds of fascinating smells. that was her favorite part smelling all the rotting sea crap and SPED running around on the beach :)

This turned out to be one of my fav pics. it was roxy's first time in the water, and i thought it was pretty with the waves and "haystack rock" in the background. yes, there are two haystack rocks in oregon....LAME!!

If you look closely you can see jeff amongst the trees. he said him and his friends have jumped out of these trees before, so he thought it would be a good idea. these trees were on top of a couple hundred feet dune...crazy! ;p

Here he is towards the end of the jump...i didn't know when he was jumping so i was lucky to get this pic. it is a pretty funny pic though.

Here's roxy and the sibs. we were getting ready to go to a convenient store to potty. this was after we had investigated tide pools and climbed the dune and of course jeff tree jumping. we spent the next couple hours trying to find a hotel or campsite to stay at that night. we found an RV ground with ONE tent site left. so we decided to stay there. unfortunately with all the elderly people staying there you had to be quiet at 10pm. so we decided after dinner to go to the store and buy firewood, and stuff for s'mores. we then we to a private beach that jeff knew about and built a nice campfire. we hung out on the beach until about 1:30. we then went back to camp and piled in the tent to endure a rainy and somewhat sleepless night. i will blog about the second day of our trip at a later time....it will give you something to wait for! ;)
