some sad news...while doing interviews ALL day in la grande (8:00am-7:30pm-longest day of my life!) i brought my digital camera to take pics of my friends on our big day. well, at some point i set it down and did not pick it up :( it had to be at the very end of the day cuz i remember having it in my hand when i went go get my friend adam upstairs. plus, he remembers me having it. so, i am have been pretty upset about that. adam has been pretty upset about it too. we are trying to figure out how we are going to afford to replace it :(
BUT the interviews went well. we listened to a panel of administrators and (the Beaverton Human Resources rep.) they discussed various issuses that they are looking for when interviewing us, looking at our resume', and our cover letter. it was good information, i got a little bored towards the end. after that we got to go "meet and mingle" with the people we would be mock interviewing with (fake interview) and real interviewing with. i was the first to RUN to the beaverton table. he is super friendly and helpful. he gave the beaverton school district presentation that really sold me on the district. (this is what i went to last saturday in beaverton).
we then had lunch and were able to relax a little. then it was off to mock interviews which i scheduled one with beaverton to see what he was looking for. i did not do so well at the mock, the question i was asked was SUPER hard. i could answer the first half, but struggled with the second half. i got good feedback from him and the other future teachers in the group. overall, i was glad that i mocked with him because of what he said later.
i then got to watch a future teacher be interviewed by three administrators in front of whoever wanted to watch. it gave me time to collect my thoughts and get some ideas of what questions might be coming. i then went to my big interview with beaverton. when i walked into the room, he said i feel like i already know you i have seen you all day. which i took as a compliment...that means that i am doing my job to get noticed. beaverton has over 3,000 applicants, and i need to do something to stand out. as soon as i sat down he made me feel comfortable, and the time FLEW by. he seemed to really like me, but he could be a good faker...i am not sure. but it seemed to go really well. he said i am able to communicate my passion clearly.
beaverton is my #1 choice, but the reality of it is a little depressing. they only hire 10% of the people that apply. he said that they will begin posting jobs the end of april. then the administrator will contact you if they are interested and you come in for an interview. at that point you could be offered a job. so the earliest this will happen is may or june. it is all pretty stressful!! i am not going to only apply at beaverton or i very well could end up not having a job next year. i am going to be applying at salem, corvalis, philomath, mcminville, medford, and pretty much anywhere else that has a college near-ish it. the finding a job part is not so fun, and i have a feeling it is not going to get any better. i have been feeling pretty discouraged, but i need to keep praying that the Lord will lead us where he wants us to go. and basically for beaverton i just have to sit and wait to be contacted in may/june. we'll see!! keep praying for us in this difficult time :)

Settle down :) It'll come around!
What was the hard question? I am going to be interviewing again and I need to get into practice!
I'm glad you found your camera, friend - now let's see you put it to good use!!!
Miss you :)
